Exploring retirement and senior living options can be an intimidating task. However, one of the best ways to evaluate senior living communities is to ask questions. There are many frequently asked questions about retirement, so that’s why our Buckner Parkway Place team has compiled a list of retirement FAQs and senior living FAQs. If you have additional retirement FAQs, please feel free to reach out to our friendly and knowledgeable Buckner Parkway Place team today either online or at 281.305.1846.
A Life Plan Community, also known as a “Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC),” is a senior living community that offers different levels of living and care on-site. There are care options that help meet residents’ changing needs in a comfortable environment they already know with people they already trust.
Some of these care options include:
- Independent Living
- Assisted Living
- Memory Care
- Long-Term Care
- Short-Term
- Rehabilitation
A Life Care Community is also a senior living community that offers the same care options but with a different financial arrangement. A Life Care Community typically requires an entrance fee in addition to a monthly fee that covers the costs of services and amenities and ensures future care at below-market rates.
Buckner Retirement Services currently has senior living communities throughout Texas. Our communities are located in:
- Houston
- Austin
- Beaumont
- Dallas
- Longview
- San Angelo
One of the most common retirement FAQs our team hears is about the difference between a nonprofit and a for-profit senior living community. A nonprofit senior living community is usually backed by a religious or charitable foundation. Revenue received for services and housing is reinvested solely to improve the community and the organization’s mission. For-profit senior living communities, however, are priced to ensure the stakeholder, investors, and managers receive a certain percentage of the revenue.
Five of Buckner’s senior living communities are rental communities. As far as the cost of senior living, in a rental community, your monthly fee includes the cost of your apartment as well as access to the services and amenities offered at each community. The Austin, Beaumont, Houston, Longview, and San Angelo communities are rental communities. The sixth community, Ventana by Buckner in Dallas, is a Life Care community with an entrance fee.
Buckner communities serve senior adults who are “62 years or better.” Most residents remain active and are out traveling, volunteering, or even working well into their 90s and 100s.
